Filming & Photography at the Ulster American Folk Park
The human drama behind three centuries of Irish emigration is brought to life spectacularly at the Ulster American Folk Park.
- Experience first hand the journey from the farmsteads of rural Ulster to the log cabins of pioneer America.
- Over 30 original and authentic exhibit buildings have been restored, relocated and populated by a cast of colourful, costumed characters.
- A life-sized 19th century emigrant sailing ship transports visitors to the “New World”.
- The Ulster Street has been reconstructed using the finest collection of original 19th century shop fronts from all over Northern Ireland, including Reilly’s Pub, Blair’s Print Shop, the Post Office, Hill’s Chemist and Reynolds Rope-makers.
- The American Street has a General Store circa 1880 from Woodstock, North Virginia and is packed full of typical goods required for the American Frontier.
- Costumed visitor guides are available if required.
Fees
Professional/ Commercial - still photography for which permission has been granted will be subject to payment of a location facility fee of £100 per location.
Filming - facility fees of £1000 per day or £100 per hour (minimum charge of £250) will apply to location filming for broadcast or commercial use and will be subject to the terms and conditions of an agreed contract as furnished by the Museum. Any additional consultancy, staffing, and other third party costs incurred by the film production company will also be charged.
Guidance to filming on Museum Premises
- Applications for permission to use the premises of the Ulster Museum for a filming location, or to film works of art or other specimens from the Collections of the Ulster Museum, follow the same general procedure as with 'still' reproductions. A synopsis of the film or programme will be requested. Applicants will be bound by the same regulations governing all other forms of reproduction, but particularly those in the contract between the applicant and the Museum which will be raised and agreed prior to the date filming takes place.
- A facility fee for filming on the premises will be charged at current rates, plus a transmission fee which will be calculated on a per second basis for the final edited footage to be used and will be based on the rights requested and territory of distribution.
- The agreed acknowledgement should appear in the opening or closing credits.
- Copyright, where applicable, must be cleared before filming can take place. This must be in writing. The Museum will require sight of permission letter/s before filming can commence.
- The applicant/production company carrying out the filming must adhere to current health and safety regulations regarding the equipment/gear being used by them.
- The applicant/production company accepts full responsibility for any damage to life or property consequential to the filming.
- Prior to filming, all electrical power and lighting requirements must be discussed with relevant Museum staff.
- The Museum will take no responsibility for any loss or damage to any equipment/gear belonging to the applicant/production company, or any personal possessions of the crew/participants while on Museum property.
Location
Ulster American Folk Park is 45 minutes from Derry and 1.5 hours from Belfast. It is 4 miles north of Omagh on the A5 road to Strabane.
