Gala Dinners & Award Ceremonies at the Ulster American Folk Park

Gala Dinners and Award Ceremonies at the Ulster American Folk Park

Two continents, two worlds, the Old and the New, make for unforgettable entertaining. The Museum’s Ship and Dockside Gallery beside the full-scale replica emigrant ship, “The Brig Union”, can accommodate special dinners and buffets. Lavishly decorated marquees, live musicians and entertainment complete the colourful, convivial scene.

The Ship & Dockside Gallery

Dine on the dockside of the Brig Union, an exact replica of an early 19th century sailing ship. This fabulous space is perfect for a gala evening for up to 80 people. As the gallery is an exhibit in itself the space requires no dressing and minimal pre-event set up stress. Ulster Street leads into the Ship & Dockside Gallery which is perfect for pre-dinner drinks in Reilly’s pub or taking your drink for a stroll down the street to have a look at the Chemist, Printers, Saddlers or Ropeworks

Unique offering

To make your evening truly memorable, we can offer a range of special options that your guests will talk about for years to come:

  • Costumed Characters
Characters in appropriate and accurate period costume will bring your event to life. Thomas Mellon himself may stop by for a visit, or the Ships Captain! These are just some of the many characters that can interact with your guests, providing a utterly memorable experience. You may even want a Captains table for hosting your VIP’s!
  • Historical re-enactments
Depending on the theme of your evening and weather pending. Your guests may enjoy some first person interpretation with a re-enactment of the return of Thomas Mellon. This lasts approximately 20 minutes. This could then be followed by a visit to the Ship & Dockside Gallery to meet the Ship's Captain before dining.
  • Themes
As one of Ireland’s leading and most diverse museums, we have access to a huge range of expertise, images and artefacts, all of which can help to give themed events real impact.
