Ulster American Folk Park

Weddings at the Ulster American Folk Park

Weddings at the Ulster American Folk Park

Located just outside Omagh, this open air museum brings to life the human drama behind centuries of Irish emigration. Transport your guests back to the ‘Old & New Worlds’ for a completely unique day.

Ship & Dockside Gallery

The Old and New Worlds of the Folk Park are linked by the ship and dockside gallery. This space is full of character and requires little dressing to make it compliment your wedding theme. You will be dining against the backdrop of a full scale replica early emigrant sailing ship.

It is also possible to have costumed visitor guides mingle with your guests during and after dinner and perhaps do some storytelling before your guests go through the ship to the American side where they can have a nice relaxing post-dinner walk while the evening entertainment sets up.

Tullyallen Mass House

Start your day by arriving by horse and cart to the Tullyallen Mass House on the Ulster side of the Folk Park.  If you would like a more traditional wedding ceremony Tullyallen Mass House is perfect. It is a beautiful quaint little country church which opens out to a lovely open green area perfect for photographs. The Mass House built in 1768 and extended in 1830 after Catholic Emancipation. It has been reconstructed in its original form with plain sash windows, whitewashed  walls and a thatched roof. It has typical church bench style seating and can hold up to 130 wedding guests.

If you would like a civil ceremony please speak to our Wedding co-ordinator and you can discuss the options.

Mountjoy Meeting House

This "venerable" old structure was how Judge Thomas Mellon referred to the thatched building in which he worshipped as a young boy before emmigrating with his family in 1818. Mountjoy Meeting House is another option for traditional wedding ceremony.

Ulster Street

After your wedding ceremony has taken place while you and your new husband/wife are having your photographs taken in the Folk Park your guests may spend some time having a look around the Ulster side of the park. They could then meet in O’Reillys pub in Ulster Street for a drinks reception prior to moving to the Ship & Dockside Gallery for evening dinner.

Marquee Sites

There are a number of marquee sites available at Ulster American Folk Park if you are having large numbers at your wedding.  These include:

  • Site 1: The green to the front of the Pennslyvania Log Farmhouse (26 on the map) in the American side.
  • Site 2:  The green opposite the Log Cabin (21 on the map)

Please speak to our wedding co-ordinator to discuss the options.
