Learning

Lucy enjoying a craft session at Armagh County MuseumArmagh County Museum offers a variety of workshops for school, youth and community groups. Alongside this the museum runs a series of seasonal family events.

The Learning and Outreach Officer is available to plan and deliver sessions at the Museum or as outreach in the community.

School workshops are designed to meet the requirements of the NI revised Curriculum for Key Stages 1-3 and the workshops explore thematic topics using specific aspects of the museum’s collections. All sessions are enquiry based and encourage active learning.

Seasonal workshops were successfully piloted during 2009/10 and are now fully available for 2010/11.

Sessions for community groups can take the form of a single visit or a project which runs over several weeks.

The workshops detailed are not exhaustive of the museum’s collections and the Learning and Outreach Officer can respond to specific requests and expressions of interest.

All workshops are currently free of charge.

Staff can assist in planning a visit to meet specific requirements.
