Acorn at the Museum
Published: 03 November 2009
A group of women from the Southern Trust have been visiting the museum every Tuesday afternoon to explore the collections with the Learning and Outreach Officer, Rachel McCance.
The group has explored their identity through the sharing of personal objects, photographs and memories. They have also looked at a range of topics including:
- The role of women and life long ago
- School days in the past
- Archeology
- Harvest
The group has had a go at making peg dolls, clay pots, Harvest Knots and paper weaving. Through these sessions the participants have formed new friendships alongside gaining an insight into the collections of the museum.
The group plans to visit the museum again in the run up to Christmas and explore some seasonal traditions of the past.
