Hold the Batteries

Tin plate Greenline bus, Armagh County Museum collectionChristmas may be over but young visitors to the Museum have had the opportunity to think and talk about the presents they received from Santa.

During January and February the ‘Playing through Time’ school workshop has been in high demand. This workshop is ideally designed for the Foundation Stage and offers pupils the opportunity to look at wooden, wool and tin-plate toys and consider the materials the toys are made from and how the toy works.

Pupils also hear how the Teddy Bear got his name. They then have a go at making a traditional homemade toy, a peg doll. The session ends with the chance to play with some toys and games such as marbles, humming tops, and yo-yos. No batteries or plastic but lots of fun! Contact Sarah or Rachel 02837523070 for more information.
