Accousticure

AcousticureVoted Europe’s top Bluegrass band at the European World of Bluegrass Festival (EWOB) in the little Dutch town of Voorthuizen from 1st to 3rd May 2009, Acousticure will be flying the flag for the European Bluegrass community at the International World of Bluegrass Festival in Nashville, Tennessee, in October.

Before that, Bluegrass fans at the 18th Bluegrass and Appalachian Music Festival at the Ulster American Folk Park, Omagh, will get a chance to check out this lively quartet from Hungary who will prove that top-notch Bluegrass is no longer an exclusively American music phenomenon.

Illustrating the huge achievement of winning Europe’s top Bluegrass accolade, Acousticure is the first band from Hungary to appear at European World of Bluegrass Festivals and they have done so on their second appearance at a festival that featured no fewer than 41 wonderful bands from 15 counties this year. An energetic four-piece group of impressive multi-instrumentalists, Acousticure keeps the sound crew hopping with frequent instrument changes.

They use acoustic instruments only (guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, dobro, double bass), and their music is a refreshing change in today’s high tech and electronically wired world; their interpretation is characterised by dynamic rhythms, polyphonic vocals, and spirited instrumental solos. Their young spokesman, mandolinfiddler- guitarist Zsolt Pinter says that when four like-minded people came together to form a band, they found that when they are playing music on stage, words are not needed in order to understand each other. While working off-stage, band decisions are made together. Zsolt Pinter has spent enough time in the USA to speak English like a native, and he has a remarkable command of Bluegrass and Country vocals.

Acousticure’s musical vision playfully fuses Bluegrass influences from Old Time to Newgrass, often incorporating their native Hungarian folk music. An example of the latter, Kis Kece Lanyom, can be heard on the European World of Bluegrass 2007 CD from Strictly Country Records. The Members of Acousticure include Zsolt Pinter on fiddle, guitar, mandolin and vocals; Geza Kremnitzky on mandolin, banjo and vocals; Peter Gyergyadesz on bass and vocals, and Andras Toth on guitar, banjo, dobro, mandolin and vocals.

They have just released their first album, Bluegrass Van.
