Making Connections is a programme of monthly open afternoons for the over-50s taking place on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Ulster American Folk Park.
Alongside free entry from 12 noon, the programme offers optional activities that have been organised for the over-50s. The full programme of is outlined below.

Wednesday October 16th
Rogan House, 2.00 – 4.00pm
Join Live and Learn creative writers as they read from their recent publication “Bye the way,” a collection of short stories and poems about emigration or leaving. Try your hand at some creative writing exercises and maybe join up for our next creative writer’s course for beginners.
Wednesday 20th November
Storytelling with Liz Weir
Rogan House, 1.00 – 1.45pm and 2.00 – 2.45pm
Renowned Northern Irish storyteller and children’s author Liz Weir will share stories and anecdotes about life in Ireland and America past and present. Participants will be invited to share their own stories. Places are limited so please book.

Various locations throughout the Museum, from 1.00 - 4pm
Celebrate the festive season and make some Christmas crafts, experience our unique Christmas Mummers and enjoy mince pies, music, and more! Booking is required
Wednesday 19th February
Traditions and Skills
Various locations throughout the museum, from 12 noon
This afternoon will focus on the tradition of straw craft. Have a go at making your own Harvest Knot or Saint Brigit’s Cross in the education centre from 1.30pm and experience a range of other crafts demonstrated by the Visitor Guide Team in various locations throughout the Museum. Booking is required for Straw Craft
Wednesday 19th March
Victorian Easter Cards
Education Centre, 1.30 to 3.30pm
View some beautiful examples of Victorian and Edwardian postcards from the Museum’s collections and make your own traditional Easter Card. Booking is required for this workshop.
