The Máirtín O’Connor Band is a musical partnership of accordionist Máirtín O’Connor, fiddler and banjo player Cathal Hayden and guitarist and singer Séamie O’Dowd.
Máirtín O’Connor is one of Ireland’s most respected traditional musicians, taking his instrument to new heights in a career that has seen him add his unique blend of musicianship to seminal groups like Skylark, De Dannan, Midnight Well and The Boys of the Lough.

O’Connor has also earned himself an acclaimed status as a soloist. Máirtín’s infectious style has kept him in demand as a consummate studio session player on many recordings by national and international acts, such as Mark Knopfler, Elvis Costello, The Dubliners, The Chieftains, Rod Stewart, The Waterboys and Townes Van Zandt. To add to his impressive C.V. Máirtín has also played a major role in Bill Whelan’s phenomenally successful Riverdance.
Cathal Hayden from Co. Tyrone went on to become a founder member of trad super-group Arcady, alongside such luminaries as Sharon Shannon, Johnny “Ringo” McDonagh, Sean Keane and Frances Black. In 1990, Cathal was instrumental in forming Four Men & A Dog, the exciting live quintet who continue to record and tour to this very day. An All-Ireland champion on both banjo and fiddle, Hayden has a number of solo albums to his credit.
Séamie O’Dowd is rooted deeply in the traditional music of his native Sligo. Séamie has added his talents to many genres of acoustic and electric music. His father Joe was a renowned traditional fiddler and the younger O’Dowd toured world-wide for a number of years with Sligo’s finest, Dervish.
