The Giant Sequoia or Wellingtonia Sequoiadendron giganteum
Conifers are cone-bearing plants. The great majority are trees. Typical examples of conifers include cedars, pines, douglas-firs, spruces and yews. Although the total number of species is small, conifers are of immense ecological and commercial importance. The wood of conifers is known as softwood.
