Mesopotamia
The civilisation of Mesopotamia was founded c5000 BC and quickly grew into a sophisticated society with palaces, temples and strong social organisation. Historical and commercial records were kept on clay tablets written in cuneiform writing which emerged c3000BC. A stick with a triangular end was used to impress symbols into an unbaked clay tablet which was then fired.
