ARTIST ROOMS On Tour with the Art Fund. Born in 1945, Richard Long is one of a generation of distinguished British artists whose work extends the possibilities of sculpture beyond the confines of traditional materials and display.

Richard Long, Ulster MuseumLong’s work is rooted in his deep affinity with nature, developed during solitary walks. As part of ARTIST ROOMS On Tour with the Art Fund, the Ulster Museum will exhibit a new work by Long, Cornish Slate Ellipse, 2009, alongside over 20 works on paper spanning four decades of the artist’s career.

ARTIST ROOMS On Tour is an inspired partnership with the Art Fund – the fundraising charity for works of art, and the Scottish Government, making the ARTIST ROOMS collection of international contemporary art available to galleries throughout the UK. ARTIST ROOMS is jointly owned by Tate and National Galleries of Scotland and was established through The d’Offay Donation in 2008, with the assistance of the National Heritage Memorial Fund, the Art Fund and the Scottish and British Governments.
