People everywhere have always marked the major rites of passage, such as birth, marriage and death, with special customs and ceremonies.
Some of the artefacts inlcuded in this exhibition are:
Japenese Wedding Kimono
Created for a Japanese bride on the Island of Hokkaido, 1980. The cranes are symbols of good fortune and happiness.

From the North West coast of America. Worn by members of secret dancing societies when they performed at marriage ceremonies.
