Daylight Raid from my Studio Window, 7 July 1917

From 1929 catalogue card: If the screen across the lower part of the window be examined it will be seen that Lady Lavery is faking a religious effigy. The dark pigment has obscured this, but the impasto of the under-painting is quite definitive. Physical Description: A woman , with her back to the viewer, faces toward a large window. She is on her knees on top of the sofa with her hands on its back. Behind her, in the fore ground, is the interior of the studio, a wooden writingdesk, a red patterened carpet, a folded newspaper ect. In the far background, in the view of the window, there are a number of barely visable planes.
