Rosamond Praeger was one of the best known Ulster sculptors of her generation and this is, perhaps, her most renowned work. The subject matter, the innocence of childhood, was typical of her whole 'oeuvre'. Praeger worked essentially in the manner of the great French sculptor Rodin, but her work is somewhat sentimental to contemporary minds.
