Sketch No. 50

Description:

Subject : Man and woman dancing to the music of a uillean piper. A wonderful example of the vitality and exuberance which Roch instils in his painting. Here, a performer on the union or uilleann pipes plays for a couple dancing. As he was deaf, Roch would not have been able to enjoy the sound of the pipes but in this wonderful painting he certainly captures the immediacy of the scene that confronted him.
