British Covenant

Description:

Buttonhole badge. A blue enamel shield in silver BRITISH COVENANT 1914. The Ulster Covenant had been signed by numerous people in England, Scotland and Wales who were sympathetic to the Unionist cause. However in 1913, a campaign for a distinctively British Covenant began. Organisers ultimately collected a total of two million signatures. This Covenant was promoted by Lord Milner and Leo Amery MP, both fervent supporters of the British Empire.
