White Star Line silver-plated toast rack, 1st Class. The majority of silver-plated tableware used in White Star vessels from 1871 to 1934 was manufactured by Elkington & Co Ltd, Birmingham. This pattern was in use from the early 1870s up to the 1911 when it was superseded by a new pattern called “Olympic”. The older design was used for 2nd Class or ships that were operating on the company’s services to South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
