White Star Line 1st Class china saucer. Stonier & Co, Liverpool, supplied the majority of china used by the White Star Line. The company ordered china from a number of manufactures including Bridgwood, Wedgewood and Copeland Spode. This pattern was in use for over 30 years, from the early part of the 1900s until the company amalgamated with Cunard in 1934. The White Star burgee colour and turquoise enamel was applied by hand, each plate edged with gold. In many case the china is dated (on the base) in order to assist the company with stock control, the older plates always used first.
