Linen proof cloth


A proof cloth for a damask napkin, woven in unbleached and red linen yarn. Loom width 52 cm, unhemmed. The napkin has a design of a large central medallion of baskets of flowers, and a border pattern of fruit and foliage. A large (10 cm x 14 cm ) paper label attached to one corner of the napkin carries the proof cloth report, including the information that this sample was woven at the Lower Lodge works on 30th August 1926.
