Linen proof cloth

Description:

A proof cloth for a linen damask napkin. Woven in unbleached and red linen yarn. Loom width 52cm. Unhemmed. The pattern is of a central ground of spots, bordered by a classical greek -style pattern including laurel leaves. A large (10cm x 14cm) paper label attached to one corner carries the proof cloth report, including the information that this sample was woven at the Lower Lodge works on 15th March 1926.
