Vote for your Ulster Heritage

Description:

Poster issued by Ulster Vanguard on the occasion of the Referendum 1973. 'Vote for your Ulster Heritage on March 8th, Put your X where it counts.' Printed dark red on white, published by John Weir, 57 Church St, Ballymena. The referendum asked voters whether they wished Northern Ireland to remain part of the UK or alternatively to become part of a united Ireland. The result showed 98.9% of valid votes in favour of remaining part of the UK but many nationalists boycotted the vote and the turnout was a relatively low 58.7%.
