Residential Centre at the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum

Our Residential Centre is set in the Ballycultra town area of the open-air museum. We cater for all types of groups - church, community, uniformed, school, youth, adult and training groups. Get in touch to discuss a package that will suit your group.

There are two separate accommodation blocks or units. These appear as authentic museum exhibits on the outside with modern furnishings inside. When you step outside after a good night’s sleep, you’ll find yourself standing in a recreated 1900s town.

One of the accommodation buildings holds up to 28 students and 5 staff. Meanwhile, a second larger building holds up to 34 students and 6 staff. It also has a lift and adapted bathroom facilities. Groups may book either one or both blocks, which allows for up to 62 students and 11 staff. Minimum group size for either block is 15 people.

  • leaders will be responsible for the supervision, behaviour and health & safety of their group
  • security staff are on call at all times in case of emergency
  • there is a no smoking and no alcohol policy

Each building has a common room with a kitchenette. These areas are equipped with:

  • A kettle
  • Fridge
  • Microwave
  • Crockery for use between meals
  • Groups have access to a television and DVD player

Each group has access to a shared dining-room. Meals, apart from breakfast which is self-service, are prepared by the museum caterers. Menus will be provided at the time of booking.

There is a large hall for indoor activities which must be booked in advance and is dependent on availability. Please enquire at time of booking.
