The Soyuz capsule, which transported British astronaut Tim Peake safely back to Earth after his mission on the International Space Station is touching down at the Ulster Transport Museum.

  1. When does Tim Peake’s Spacecraft open at the Ulster Transport Museum?
    The exhibition will be open to the public from 20th February 2019.  Entry will be free, however booking will be essential for entry into the gallery.
    Last chance to see the Soyuz capsule is Sunday 12th May 2019.

  2. Is it paid for?  How much is it?

    Entrance to see Tim Peake’s Spacecraft exhibition is free to the public however The Space Descent VR Experience will be priced at £6 per person.

  3. Who is the exhibition suitable for?

    Tim Peake’s Spacecraft exhibition is suitable for all ages. The Space Descent VR Experience is suitable for visitors aged 13 years and over.

  4. Will the exhibition be accessible?

    Tim Peake’s Spacecraft exhibition is fully accessible.

  5. How do I book tickets?

    Tickets can be purchased at the entrance to the Ulster Transport Museum. If you wish to take part in the Space Descent VR Experience, you can either book tickets on our website at nmni.com/soyuz or purchase your tickets on the day.

  6. Can we bring groups?  How do I book a group in?

    Group bookings (for parties of 10 or more) are available upon request.  Please contact our Tim Peake Administrator Tel:  028 9044 0067 (9am-5pm Monday – Friday) or email soyuz@nmni.com.

  7. What is there to see/do?  What is the exhibition about?

    The Soyuz capsule will be the main attraction, however alongside this there will be a range of activities on offer, including a selfie spacesuit and interactive displays relating to space exploration, as well as the Space Descent VR Experience.
    Once you have finished browsing the exhibition, you can extend your visit by exploring the rest of the Transport Museum as well as the Ulster Folk Museum. Please note that there will be an entrance cost to access both of these museums which can be found on our website at https://www.nmni.com/our-museums/Ulster-Transport-Museum/Visitor-information/visitor-prices.aspx

  8. How long does it take to see the exhibition?

    A visit to the Tim Peake Soyuz Capsule will take approx. 25 – 30mins, however with the rest of the Rail Gallery open to explore we recommend that you set aside 60 – 70mins.  For those wishing to visit the whole of the museum, 2 – 3 hours would be recommended.

  9. Do I need to print my ticket to the Space Descent VR Experience?
    You can bring along a printed ticket which you will receive in your confirmation email.  Alternatively, provided you have a confirmation number and booking receipt we will be able to accept this via smartphone.

  10. Can I visit the rest of the Transport Museum and the Folk Museum?
    Once you have finished browsing the exhibition, you can extend your visit by exploring the rest of the Transport Museum and the Folk Museum.   11. Can I change my ticket for the Space Descent VR Experience to another day?
    At National Museums NI we will always endeavour to do our utmost to accommodate our visitors.  If for some reason you are not able to attend your booked timeslot, please contact our Tim Peake Administrator who will be able to advise you if your booking has been successful.  Tel:  028 9039 5091.
