Time needed to explore

The Ulster Folk Museum is spread over more than 170 acres, so to make the most out of your visit, be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to explore. To get the most out of your trip, we reccomend:

  • 2-3 hours for Ballycultra Town
  • 2-3 hours for the rural countryside

When you arrive at the admissions kiosk, pick up a What’s On Today sheet which details all of the day's activities, such as basket making or blacksmithing, to help plan your visit.

What to wear during your visit

As much of our museum is outdoors, we recommend sensible shoes and appropriate clothing for the time of year, with waterproofs essential for wet days.

Many schools encourage their students to dress up in traditional clothing for their visit, helping to make the experience more immersive - and a great photo opportunity!
