International metal artist & lecturer Adi Toch will give a talk about the philosophy behind her work, the making process and her unique approach to metal. The lecture will be followed by Blushing Metals, a hands-on experience in colouring metal using items from the food cupboard. Have a go & take home!
10.00-11.15: Adi Toch explores the visual language of metal through colour, movement, sound and tactility. Her award-winning work is exhibited internationally and included in major public collections such as the V&A Museum, National Museums Scotland, National Museum of Wales and The Goldsmiths’ Company collection. Adi will talk about the philosophy behind her work, the making process and her unique approach to metal. she will share insights into her interactive projects including Talk to Me installation that recently won The European Prize for Applied Arts and is currently exhibited at The National Design and Craft Gallery in Kilkenny.
12.00-15.00: Adi Toch and colleagues from Ulster University will demonstrate accessible and surprising techniques for colouring metals using items you can find in the food cupboard. The audience will be invited to have a go and make a small piece they can take home with them.
