Join us at the Ulster Museum to launch the NBN Atlas of Northern Ireland. A new website that provides a platform to engage, educate and inform people about local wildlife.
About the Atlas of Northern Ireland:
The NBN Atlas Northern Ireland is a free resource developed by the National Biodiversity Network (NBN) in collaboration with the Centre for Environmental Data and Recording (CEDaR), Department of Environment, Agriculture and Rural Affairs (DAERA), Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) and National Museums Northern Ireland.
The new Atlas of NI includes:
- Species descriptions and images
- Distribution maps
- Downloadable species datasets
- Mapping and analysis tools
- Information about local environmental recording schemes and opportunities for getting involved with local recording projects.
Terrestrial, freshwater and marine data collected by environmental recording organisations, groups and individuals from across Northern Ireland are collated and maintained on the Atlas and from here they can be viewed and downloaded.
About the launch event:
An evening drinks and finger food reception will be held at Ulster Museum, with the main event taking part in the Lecture Theatre, involving talks from guest speakers and a live demo to officially launch the NBN Atlas Northern Ireland. The event will be hosted by Conor Macauley, BBC Agriculture and Environment Correspondent.
