The sea around Northern Ireland supports a diversity of marine mammals, with 2 species of seal and at least 17 species of whale, dolphin and porpoises recorded around our coastline. While the majority of records are of healthy animals in their natural environment, every year the DAERA Marine and Fisheries Division responds to a number of call outs for strandings of both live and dead marine mammals.

Join us online on Thursday 4th March to hear all about marine mammal strandings in Northern Ireland from Gary Burrows (DAERA Marine and Fisheries Division). Through sharing his own experience, Gary will guide us through stranding events, why and where they occur and how they are managed, plus what you should do if you encounter an injured or distressed marine mammal.

This is a free CEDaR event, which will be run online. You will receive an email prior to the course with details for joining. If you can no longer make the course, please let us know by emailing sally.stewart-moore@nmni.com
