Making sketches and observations of nature was a popular historic pastime – for the enjoyment of capturing nature but also as an important source of information which helped advance science, medicine and farming practices over the decades.
Join Nigel Cook, National Museums NI's Natural Sciences Education Officer, for a family-friendly journey around the beautiful natural sites of the Ulster Folk Museum as you learn about the work of 19th century naturalists.
You’ll be provided with a notebook and all the materials you'll need, whilst being guided to make your own sketches and observations. Suitable for families, the notebook will be yours to take home to continue filling with your own nature observations.
