From 23 August to 30 October, we will be home to 'One Story, Many Voices', an immersive sound installation created by Imperial War Museum's Second World War and Holocaust Partnership programme.

This travelling exhibition brings local and regional stories from the Second World War to life. You'll be able to listen to imagined audio worlds where diverse voices share experiences of war and conflict. These stories have been created by five celebrated authors from across the UK including local author Glenn Patterson, who has written 'The sound that will never leave you ' based on the personal experiences of two children during the Belfast Blitz in April 1941.

Simply scan the QR code or listen through the headphones at the installation for an immersive sound experience. You can find out more about the Belfast Blitz in the Lecture Theatre where there’s a display, short film and a free booklet that leads you on a self-guided tour of Blitz sites in central Belfast.

National Museums NI is one of eight regional partners in the Second World War and Holocaust Partnership Programme led by Imperial War Museums and supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

In redeveloping their own Second World War and Holocaust galleries, IWM have been keen to include personal stories and emphasise the global reach of the war. In response we have developed Searchlight. Searchlight Stories casts a light on the experiences of individuals during the Second World War with our collections at the core. Follow the link for local stories and personal experiences of the Second World War in Northern Ireland.
