This second conference in a series of maritime heritage-themed conferences, jointly organised by National Museums Northern Ireland, National Historic Ships UK, Gerry Brennan (Silvery Light Sailing), and Robin Masefield, will highlight this aspect of Ulster’s unique maritime heritage. 

There will be a number of speakers from a maritime and heritage background with a focus on schooners from around Ireland and the industries they were involved in.  This conference also includes a visit to the newly opened exhibition on the Carrickfergus schooner Result which now sits at the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum.

Topics covered will include:

  • Irish Schooners in the Second World War
  • Fermanagh Cots and Maritime Heritage
  • Portaferry Schooners

This is a free event

Registered conference delegates will also have free admission for two persons to the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum on Thursday 26th or Saturday 28th April 2018.
