The Royal Ulster Academy is the most enduring body of practicing visual artists in Northern Ireland and its Annual Exhibition is one of the highlights of the Northern Ireland arts calendar. The Exhibition showcases work from emerging and established artists from all over the world alongside work by RUA Academicians. Now in its 137th year, it continues to provide a relevant platform for contemporary painting, sculpture, film, printmaking, installations and photography.

The 137th Annual Exhibition runs at the Ulster Museum, Belfast from 19th October 2018 until 6th January 2019 and has once again been sponsored generously by KPMG.

The synergy between the Academy and the Ulster Museum continues, bringing to the public an exhibition and accompanying education and events programme, building positively on previous successful exhibitions. These events include tours, workshops, master classes and talks running throughout the thirteen weeks of the exhibition (a full list of events is available on request). A fully illustrated catalogue featuring all 424 works is available for sale at the gallery for £8.

James Hanley RHA is this year’s adjudicator of the gold, silver and bronze medal awards.

Without the support of its sponsors the Academy would not exist in its present form. After 10 years of support, KPMG has renewed its invaluable sponsorship for a further 3 years; NIAVAC continues its sponsorship of the gold medal award and K Rend is in its third year of sponsorship, affording the Academy the installation of the entire Diploma Collection in its new gallery and office space at St Anne’s Court, 59 North Street.
